Tech > Pioneer CD-RB10

This is the Pioneer CD-RB10. I'm utilizing it in my Car MP3 player project. If you have a Pioneer deck this device will allow you to add AUX inputs if you don't have them. While the RB10 is about $35, it seemed to be a better solution to me than reverse engineering the proprietary Pioneer IP-BUS protocol and soldering wires to the back of my deck. The AUX inputs provided (on the "box" side of the cable) are standard RCA jacks.

Enabling Auxilary Mode On Your Deck

Just hooking the RB10 to your deck isn't enough to enable the RCA inputs on most units. The procedure to turn on Aux Mode for my Pioneer was a little hard to figure out. The process was:
  1. Turn off the unit
  2. Hold down "Function" until the "Initial Settings" menu appears
  3. Go under Aux In
  4. Enable
  5. Hit "Band" to exit
No combination of buttons/menus would work with the unit on. You had to start with it off.
